DAY 18-


Today’s challenge is to eat more variety of colour- namely vegetables and fruits.

Vegetables will be your best bet as you can include them with meals, and the more veggies you eat, naturally the fuller you will feel quicker in a good way, than if you limit yourself to basic, and mostly beige foods.

The more variety of colours that you can aim for across the day, the more diversity you provide your body. All of these wonderful colours provide a myriad of health benefits, from the deep green of kale, being a great source of iron and vitamin c, to the bright red of a capsicum packed with antioxidants, and vitamin a.

Your gut, which is important for functions such as immunity against diseases, digestion, and is even thought to be a major player in regulation of weight, loves diversity. The more you can feed you gut microbiome with a wide array of different colours, the stronger you make yourself.

Of course, you don’t need to learn the colours and properties off by heart to receive all of these superhuman benefits. Simply by creating the rainbow on as many meals and snacks as you can manage, you will find that you become in tune with what feels best in your body, without becoming weighed under with vitamins and minerals.

Also, bear in mind that you don’t necessarily need to eat all the colours in every meal. You might not always be in the mood. It’s just that mixing them as often as possible ensures that you don’t miss any out. In general, green is always a safe colour to begin your base and build from, but experiment and see what suits you.

Our appetites for food are also much dependent on factors as variable as the weather, and time of the year. In winter you may be craving broccoli, where as in in the summer it might not seem so attractive and you might prefer something lighter like spinach.


Also, don’t be limited to just vegetables. Things like kidney beans have a rich purple colour, and are a real powerhouse full of protein, fibre and beyond.
